Guns provide a great way to protect yourself, and they can also be used for entertainment if you hunt or like to visit the shooting range. If you are new to guns, they may seem overwhelming. If you would like to learn more, check out these four commonly asked questions about guns.
The type of gun you need depends on many factors. First, why are you using the gun? If you plan to start hunting, a rifle may be a better choice. If you need home protection, a shotgun may be the better choice. If you want something easy that you can take with you for protection on the go and at home, a handgun is the right choice.
However, every gun is different, so you may need to shop around. Some guns, for example, require more maintenance than others. If you become a gun enthusiast, you may enjoy maintaining guns. However, someone who just wants a gun for protection may prefer something that is easy to maintain and use. Other factors to consider include the grip size, recoil, safeties, etc.
Guns may seem dangerous, but when used correctly, they can save lives. Plus, they provide a great way to relieve stress at the shooting range. If you would like to learn more about guns, or if you want to start practicing, contact us at Osseo Gun Club & Pro Shop today.
The leading benefit to going to your local shooting range is practice. The more you practice, the better your aim, so you'll be able to protect yourself in a dangerous situation or bag that elk you've been tracking. However, a lot of work goes into firing a gun correctly, and shooting range practice helps in more ways than one.
For example, so many people stare at computer screens all day, which can damage the eyes. One way to help your vision is by focusing on distant objects every now and then. Practicing shooting at a range gives your eyes a much-needed break from close computer screens. Similarly, it can help build discipline, arm strength, focus, balance, and confidence.
In Minnesota, you need either a Permit to Purchase or a Permit to Carry if you want a legally buy a gun. This applies to semi-automatic weapons, pistols, and shotguns. Most people choose the Permit to Purchase because it is free, and the permit lasts a year.
You will need to fill out an application for the permit, and the Chief Law Enforcement Officer can take up to seven days to approve or deny the permit. If your permit is denied, there is an appeal process. When you need to renew the permit, you simply reapply.

Under the Gun Control Act, even if you served no time in jail, you can't own a gun if you were convicted of a felony. The Gun Control Act also prohibits anyone convicted of domestic violence from owning a gun, even if the crime was only a misdemeanor.
In addition, anyone who has been deemed mentally unstable, such as someone who has been committed to a mental institution, cannot legally own a gun. Similarly, people who use and/or are addicted to controlled substances are prohibited from gun ownership.
In most cases, to buy a gun, you must first be at least 18 years of age. Even if you are 18 or older, however, you may be prohibited from owning a gun if you have been indicted or convicted of a felony.
